Dr. Francis Tang
Overview
CV
Dr Francis Tang obtained his master’s degree in radiation physics from the University of London in the late eighties before entering his medical physics profession back in Hong Kong. He later gained his doctoral degree in medical physics in the University of Hong Kong in the early millennium after a long service as a medical physicist in various clinical oncology departments in public hospitals.
Dr Tang is now senior medical physicist of the Department of Clinical Oncology, Queen Mary Hospital and he is also radiation protection advisor of the Hong Kong West Cluster of Hospitals. Apart from his professional duties in the Hospital Authority, Dr Tang also serves in the Radiation Board of the Department of Health as a board member in advising the Government on radiation matters and policies. Dr Tang has been taking active roles in various profession bodies both local and abroad, for the betterment of medical physics practice in hospitals and also fostering education and training of medical physics both in universities and hospitals.
Apart from practicing medical physics in the clinic, Dr Tang has also developed several software packages in radiotherapy physics, attempting to aid or streamline various clinical workflows in cancer patient’s management.
