Dr Chan Ping Tak graduated from the Department of Medicine of the Hong Kong University in 1992 and became the fellow of the Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburge (Orthopaedics) in 2000. He was then elected as the fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Orthopaedic Surgery) in 2001. Dr Chan is interested in upper limb surgery and microvascular reconstruction. He received training in four famous centers in Japan in 2002 for microsurgery, congenital hand surgery, wrist surgery and brachial plexus injury. He was elected as the President of the Hong Kong Society for Surgery of the Hand from 2016 to 2018.
