Dr Chen is a Consultant Anaesthesiologist at the North District Hospital and Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital. He has been involved in the development, promotion and application of medical simulation education in Hong Kong for over 15 years. Earlier, he had led the development of simulation-based training for the HKCA. Subsequently he was involved in the consultation process to develop simulation training for healthcare professionals in HA in 2011-2012. In 2013, he was a member of the team that planned and established the Hong Kong Jockey Club Innovative Learning Centre for Medicine (HKJCILCM) at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.

Over the years, PP continues to have a strong interest in simulation teaching. He advocated and participated in the development of several mandatory training courses for HKCA trainees. In 2006, he piloted a multidisciplinary team-training simulation programme to promote patient safety to non-anaesthesiology doctors and nurses in NTEC and NTWC. Later he led the development of simulation training for HA interns in 2010, and the HKCA/HA Enhancing Sedation Safety course in 2011. PP has also helped developed and participated in faculty development programmes at HKCA, HA and HKAM. PP is currently the Honorary Director of HKAM’s HKJCILCM, and the Director of NTEC Simulation & Training Centre.
