Dr. Jonathan Hon-kwan Chen

Dr Jonathan Hon-kwan CHEN obtained his PhD degree from The University of Hong Kong in 2008. He completed his Post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Microbiology of The University of Hong Kong in 2011 and was appointed as the Honorary Assistant Professor of the department. He then later joined the Department of Microbiology in Queen Mary Hospital as the Scientific Officer (Medical) in-charge in 2011. He is currently the fellow member of the Faculty of Science of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) in Australia and the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) in UK. He is a Chartered Scientist in UK.
Dr CHEN is an expert in advanced molecular diagnostic techniques and infection control application. His developments and research projects have published in more than 60 articles in different international peer-reviewed journals including Nature Genetics, Emgering Infectious Diseases, Journal of Clinical Microbiology, Journal of Hospital Infection, etc. More than 20 of his developed assays are currently serving the community in Queen Mary Hospital. His outstanding achievement made him to be selected as the Young Achiever of the Hospital Authority in 2018 and the Outstanding Staff of the Hong Kong West Cluster in 2018.
