Introduction :
Colleagues of Kwong Wah Hospital were our stars shining around us, we worked together to provide quality health services. Our hospital was undergoing redevelopment project which would last for over ten years. In facing the escalating challenges and stressful working environment in an acute hospital, Central Nursing Division coordinated to form a nurse team of “心星互賞加油站” with members from different departments. Nurse initiative program was organized for staff support and recognition. We wish to nourish the light of our caring hearts.
Objectives :
(1)To strengthen team spirit, staff moral and companionship among nurses; (2)to foster integration and ownership in the hospital.
Methodology :
The program consisted of three main themes to promote “Physical Health”, “Healthy Diet” and “Mental Health”. Staff appreciation boards were set up of appreciation messages, sharing of positive thinking and leisure activities at workplaces to create a supportive working environment and atmosphere. Regular events were organized at lunch hour. Staff were encouraged to have a break from daily work and join the relaxing, refreshing, energetic activities. We had organized series of activities included “齊來扭氣球”, “金曲一點鐘”, “每天運動多一些I & II”. “2018感謝祭”was organized in Dec 2018 to thank the nurses for their contribution and volunteer works. The team promoted the new initiatives of “祝福送遞服務”. Blessings cards were hand-made by team members. Participants were invited to write down thankful wordings and blessings to colleagues. The team members would bring the blessing card to colleague by hand.
Result & Outcome :
From September 2017 to December 2018, more than 200 nos. of staff had joined the events. Three tiers survey was conducted and feedbacks were collected from DOM/NC/SNM/WM, APN and RN. Over 90% participants supported the program and enjoyed the activities. They expressed that they were not only working together, but could share and have fun together. A break from the work gave them refreshing moment. Over 50 blessings cards were received at “2018感謝祭”. All colleagues showed excited and thankful on receiving the surprise blessings. The program was recognized by colleagues and hospital management. It was a sustainable project and we would move forward to organize interactive and innovative activities for our colleagues despite of limited space and time.
