Introduction :
The Department of Clinical Pathology of Hong Kong East Cluster (HKEC) has two central reception counters located in Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) and Ruttonjee & Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals (RTSKH) to receive more than two million laboratory specimens from 6 hospitals and 11 clinics in HKEC. The surveillence of specimen processing to ensure patient identification and traceabity are key measures in quality patient service.
Objectives :
To strengthen traceability of the specimen reception procedure and mitigate the unidentify and lost of specimen
Methodology :
Installation of a 24-hr CCTV surveillence system providing broad view and high definition zoom lens (able to provide clear vision of the information stated on the specimen)
Result & Outcome :
- Improve accuracy of patient identification - Promote quality patient care service - Promote department service
