Introduction :
Conditions of critically ill patient are always vulnerable and unpredictable. Family may experience either a slow or unsure process of recovery of the loved one. Their experience included worry and unable to express their love and concern to intubated and sedated or being isolated patient in ICU. Regards memo was designed for family members to express their emotions and communicate with the loved one. Hopefully, this project can reduce their helplessness, nervousness as well as enhance communication and rapport.
Objectives :
Objectives: 1. Support ICU patient, relative and family members in a critical moment
2. Encourage family members to express their feeling and support to patients
3. Decrease family members anxiety and uncertainty
4. Enhance communication and build up rapport
Methodology :
Methodology
1. A preliem survey was conducted to explore family needs through face to face discussion
2. Set up a questionnaire to investigate their needs, feeling and what to do in this critical moment
3. Design the regards memo
4. Promote the regards memo to family members and encourage them to express or communicate with the loved one
5. The project was introduced and implemented from August to December 2018, 30 regards memo were written by family members
Result & Outcome :
Result/Outcome
A post satisfaction survey was conducted to evaluate the outcome
1 . The size of the memo is appropriate.
2. Family members feel that their feeling and concern were attended.
3. Enhance the rapport between the nurses and family members.
4. Family members were eager to write regards memo.
